From the Author, Markita Staples-Green
I decided to become an author when I had my first daughter, Emerald. I fell in love with storytime with her and I wanted to write the book that she would love to read! It’s also very important that my daughters embrace features like their curly hair and skin color, so I wanted to create cute little characters based on them and other little babies of color.
This was my first time drawing since I was a child! I had so much fun bringing the illustrations to life. I hope to write more stories that our babies and parents of color will love reading!
