What material is this?

It looks and feels like a Jersey.

Is this good to use to sleep in when trying at add extra curl to your hair?

If you prepare the hair properly and use it to wrap hair that has been professionally styled it will maintain curls or style. If you know how to wave your hair it will maintain it. I have used curl activator and other products on my hair and wrapped it and found it helpful. The curls and moisture stayed and I refreshed the moisture in the morning. Nonetheless, you may have to experiment. It will not fall off at night unless there is a lot of movement and will wash easily after every use.

Works well for dreadlocks?

Yes they are long down to backside and it wraps well. Sometimes only use one some times use two.
