Tyra Banks Family: Son, Boyfriend, Brother, Parents
For some people Tyra Banks is first of all a TV host of several popular TV shows. But in fact, she is a model, a singer, an actress, a producer and of course, a TV host.
She was born in 1973 and at the age of 15 tried her skills in the modeling industry with her photo being published on the cover of Seventeen Magazine. She then started appearing in different music videos but fashion took over and she seriously decided to build a successful career in that business.
She became not only a top model but also a Victoria’s Secret Angel and the first African-American to appear on the cover of GQ magazine.
Tyra was also a host of a couple TV shows. To name just a few: America’s Next Top Model, America’s Got Talent, True Beauty and others.
In addition, she featured in several movies, such as Coyote Ugly, Higher Learning, etc.
In 1998 she released her book called Tyra’s Beauty, Inside and Out that was aimed to help women feel their natural beauty.
Finally, Banks has her own cosmetics line.
And now, it is high time to have a look at the model’s closest people.
Carolyn is a mother to a famous TV host. She worked as a medical photographer at NASA’s Jet propulsion lab and was a director of a medical media center. She shares a tight bond with a stellar daughter and is extremely proud of all her achievements.
The father’s name is Donald and he used to work as a computer consultant. Despite parents’ divorce when a young starlet was just 6, the family remained united, happy and friendly.
Banks has only one sibling, an elder brother Devin, who was delivered in 1968. Both siblings are very close and often find time to spend with each other. Devin is an Air Force 1st Lieutenant.
Speaking of the celebrity’s personal life, she has never been married but had a long-term partner Erik Asla, who is a Norwegian fashion photographer. The couple had been together since 2013 and up till 2017. During these four years, they became parents to a son, who they now co-parent.
Tyra’s son York was welcomed in 2016 and was a real gift to a stunning model. The fact is that Banks had some difficulties getting pregnant in a natural way and therefore, tried IVF. Nonetheless, it failed and York was born through surrogacy. Tyra was very glad to become a mother and often took time off work to be with her son. She is definitely a loving and caring mother.
