Morehouse, Spelman and Clark Atlanta Are Requiring All Students and Staff To Be Vaccinated for The Fall 2021 Semester
The Atlanta University Center Consortium which includes Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College announced today that they are require all students, faculty members, and staff to be vaccinated for the 2021 fall semester.
The AUCC defines “fully vaccinated” as two weeks after a single-dose vaccine or two weeks after the second dose of a two-shot vaccine, 11 Alive reports.
“As AUCC member institutions plan for summer programming and the fall semester, using the latest scientific data to implement vaccination protocols is the next step in keeping our community safe,” the AUCC members said in a statement. “Vaccination of our community members is critical to continue meeting our highest priority—maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our constituents.”
The AUCC Student Health and Wellness Center said there will be opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to receive their vaccines at the center. Each institution will also announce additional vaccine opportunities.
“Over the next couple of months each university will share their own specific information about how to receive or provide confirmation that students and staff have received one of the vaccines,” Fox 5 Atlanta stated. “Officials say there may be cases where students and staff members may be exempted from vaccinations, but the processes may vary for each institution.”
Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College are not the only schools requiring students get the COVID-19 vaccine. Brown, Duke, Cornell, Rutgers, and Northeastern recently told students they are also requiring them to get vaccinated before returning to campus next fall.
