Jackson State University Receives $1 Million from FedEx to Help Students and Provide COVID-19 Relief

FedEx Corp. just agreed to give Jackson State University over the next five years to support educational opportunities and employment equity.

According to the press release issued by the University, an initial funding of $200,000 has been designated to support students, faculty and staff as they navigate the COVID-19 crisis. Remaining funds will support a broader collaborative program between FedEx and the HBCU.

“We are honored to receive this financial gift, as it will provide additional resources for our students as they navigate higher education amid a pandemic,”JSU President Thomas K. Hudson stated.

“With many students and families struggling right now as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, our hope is that this timely investment will help keep more students in school and provide future access to leadership, educational and employment opportunities.” Judy Edge, corporate vice president of Human Resources at FedEx, said. “This contribution further deepens our commitment to creating more equitable communities by breaking down barriers to work and making a sustainable, long-term impact on underrepresented groups.”

We at Watch The Yard love to see our HBCUs get donations like this.
