Malcolm X – Political Education Pt. 1: Perpetuating Slavery
A true understanding of the black experience here in this country reveals that, from our very arrival (1619), Blacks have been deemed racially subordinate (subhuman), seen only as slaves, and therefore rather than included in the promises of the American Dream (promise land), appropriately ever excluded, oppressed, and exploited. Upon inception, from the 1st President Washington (1789) to the 16th President Lincoln (1861), the country overtly expressed its disregard for Black humanity and equitability as evident by the provisions to continue the existing 150+ years of slavery in the country’s sacred constitution (1619 — 1787) and 10 of its first 12 presidents being proud slaveholders (president and author of the “Declaration of Independence”, Thomas Jefferson, who famously quoted “All men were created equal”, with over 141 slaves), moreover, the two presidents to succeed President Lincoln, the Civil War, and so-called great “Emancipation Proclamation” (1863). Yet, as further evidence, after nearly 250 years (1619 -1863’s “proclamation”), slavery, racism, and exclusion still did not end, nor was it ever intended to end, but rather continued covertly with each and every succeeding president fostering the illusion of Black freedom and equality while simultaneously [for the sake of conserving White notions of superiority, the presidency seat, and/or foreseeably their very life, e.g. Lincoln and Kennedy] undermining every political gain or civil liberty advance by failing to provide equitable civil protection (e.g. lynchings, cross burnings, and church bombings), spitefully standing by while those rights and liberties were violated, and/or maliciously countering through some racially suppressive social code (i.e. Black Code: 1800 -1876), policy, and/or law (i.e. Jim Crow Law: 1876 – 1965).
