Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson Delivers Moving Speech: ‘We Have Made It’
As Blavity previously reported, the 51-year-old was confirmed on Thursday despite facing weeks of intense scrutiny from Republican lawmakers. Critics questioned Jackson’s judicial philosophy and brought a number of accusations against her, saying she was too lenient in her sentencing for cases of child pornography and representation of detainees at Guantanamo Bay.
“The anger, the constant interruptions, the most vile, baseless assertions and accusations. In the face of it all, Judge Jackson showed the incredible character and integrity she possesses. Poise. Poise and composure. Patience and restraint. And yes, perseverance, and even joy,” Biden said on Friday.
According to CNN, Jackson will remain in her current position on the U.S. Court of Appeals until Justice Stephen Breyer retires this summer. Jackson will then be sworn into the Supreme Court.
