ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ Will Be At Jackson State This Weekend
College Gameday will be heading to Jackson, Mississippi over the weekend for an legendary HBCU rivalry game.
ESPN’s pregame show announced it will be going to undefeated Jackson State and Southern game. The game known as the BoomBox Classic, features two of the top Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) programs and has been played every year since 1958.
Southern holds the series overall lead 35–30 over Jackson State in the annual matchup, however, the Tigers ended an eight-game losing streak last season with a 21–17 win. Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders has developed into an FCS powerhouse, having his team 7-0 so far this season. The Tigers are coming off a homecoming win over Campbell University last Saturday 22 – 14.
Southern’s season is going well with a 5–2 record with four consecutive wins, including Saturday’s 51–7 drubbing of Virginia University of Lynchburg. College Gameday will begin live from Jackson at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 29. The Jackson State versus Southern is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET
