Dustin Lance Black accepts the Writers Guild of America West's 2018 Valentine Davies Award
Screenwriter and LGBTQ rights activist Dustin Lance Black (Milk, When We Rise) receives the Writers Guild of America West’s 2018 Valentine Davies Award in recognition of his civil and human rights efforts, from When We Rise co-star Ivory Aquino.
The WGAW’s Valentine Davies Award honors Guild members whose humanitarian efforts and service have brought dignity and honor to writers everywhere. Past Valentine Davies recipients include Norman Lear, Neal Baer, Larry Gelbart, Tom Schulman, Carl Reiner, Susannah Grant, Phil Rosenthal, Sam Simon, Ben Affleck, John August, and most recently Richard Curtis.
The 2018 Writers Guild Awards L.A. show was hosted by Emmy and Grammy-winning actor-writer-comedian Patton Oswalt on February 11, 2018 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The Writers Guild Awards honor outstanding writing in film, television, new media, videogames, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories.
