Dr. Dre Ordered to Pay Almost $300,000 a Month in Spousal Support to Ex-Wife Nicole Young
Dr. Dre’s soon to be ex-wife, Nicole Young, has reportedly won a huge settlement. Court documents obtained by The Blast, shows the music mogul, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, has been ordered by a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge to temporarily pay his ex-wife almost $300,000 a month, totaling an estimated $3.5. million over a year in spousal support. Dr. Dre is reportedly scheduled to make these payments on the first of every month.
“[Dr. Dre] is ordered to pay to the [Nicole Young] spousal support in the sum of $293,306.00 per month, payable on the first of each month, commencing August 1, 2021,” the order said. The documents stated that the he would pay a total of $3,519,672 per year, not including other fees and expenses “until the party receiving support remarries or enters into a new domestic partnership, death of either party.” Along with Young’s attorney Samantha Spector arranged for Dr. Dre to pay for her client’s health insurance plan. He will also “continue paying the expenses for the Malibu and Pacific Palisades homes.” If the pair can agree on a lump sum payment, the monthly payment could vanish. As previously reported, Young filed for divorce from the business mogul in June 2020, after 24 years of marriage, claiming irreconcilable differences, and has since looking for spousal support to the tune of $2 million a month.
According to Billboard, Young, who is a lawyer, claimed that her ex-husband “demanded” that she sign a prenup using “undue pressure,” which left her with “no choice but to do so.” However, several years into their marriage, Young said that Dr. Dre “tore up” the document that would have awarded her a significant chunk of his alleged $820 million estate. However, she has been unable to show a copy of said prenup.
Almost a year after the breakup was made public, a judge granted the former couple’s request to be considered legally single. Dr. Dre and Young married in 1996 and share two adult children: 20-year-old daughter, Truly, and 24-year-old son, Truice Young.
