1. Understand how to continue to foster and support the student-teacher relationship through Black History Month.
-Do introduce positive stories. Do connect with students’ culture. Do facilitate safe-space conversations.
-Don’t spotlight Black students. Don’t focus on traumatic events. Don’t be afraid to tackle uncomfortable content. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
-Learn to incorporate Black history and culture into your teaching all year round, not just during February!
2. There are so many fantastic places to start finding resources for your students:
-Black History Today: https://blackhistory.today/
-Learning for Justice: https://www.learningforjustice.org/
