(BPRW) Black PR Wire Celebrates National Minority Health Month
(Black PR Wire) It’s National Minority Health Month (NMHM)! This month-long celebration observed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) highlights the need for better health outcomes for racial and ethnic minority communities. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some chronic diseases and the factors that lead to them are more common or severe for certain racial and ethnic minority groups in the United States. Economic stability, education access and quality, social and community context, and health care access and quality are some of the factors that influence health disparities.
Achieving health equity requires shared efforts. This year’s NMHM theme, “Be the Source for Better Health,” calls on collective action from our communities, organizations, and individuals to improve health outcomes through our cultures, communities, and connections.
As we recognize NMHM, Black PR Wire acknowledges and salutes the many organizations across the nation that are working tirelessly to improve the health outcomes of our communities and bridge the gap in healthcare inequities.
