Samuel L. Jackson Blasts Clarence Thomas After The Justice Calls To Overturn Ruling For Same-Sex Marriage

Samuel L. Jackson went to Twitter on Friday to speak out against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who voted in favor of eliminating access to abortion while also calling to overturn the right to same-sex marriage and contraception. In his tweet on Friday, Jackson wondered if Thomas would use the same precedent to overturn the 1967 Loving v. Virginia ruling, which protects interracial marriages.

“How’s Uncle Clarence feeling about Overturning Loving v Virginia??!! Jackson wrote.

The actor’s tweet was subtly referring to Thomas’ own interracial marriage to his wife Ginni Thomas. Jackson dubbed the Supreme Court justice as Uncle Clarence to suggest that he may resemble an “Uncle Tom,” the term used to describe a Black person who is overly obedient to white authority figures.

According to the Huffpost, Thomas didn’t mention the Loving case while calling for other human rights laws to be overturned.
