Martin Luther King Jr Famous Quotes with Uplifting Music

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Baptist minister and social activist who was a significant figure in the American civil rights movement from the mid-1950s until his assassination in 1968. Through peaceful protest, King sought equality and human rights for African Americans, the economically poor, and all victims of injustice.

He was a major influence behind watershed events like the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the 1963 March on Washington, which aided in the passage of landmark legislation like the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

King received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and is celebrated each year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a federal holiday in the United States since 1986.

MLK taught us that it is one thing to say you have an idea and quite another to act on it. He understood that if you are going to change things, you will need to be bold. There comes a time when we must take a position that is neither safe nor politic, but one must take it because it is right. MLK: We cannot attempt to live, or tell, a compelling story without being conscious of others. There is nothing safe about being honest, nothing comfortable about doing the right thing.

Choose wisely before opening your mouth, and be aware of the consequences. As a leader, you will be asked to compromise all kinds of values to please others. But the fruit is worth the pain. If you are offering a new paradigm, you cannot assume the masses will know or care what you’re talking about. You have to show your audience the Promised Land before they’ll want to go there themselves. This may be the most important lesson Dr. King taught us: we are what we are when we decide to be it
