16mm sound short – "BBC MUSICALS NO. 1" GB 1936 Horace Shepherd
Hi – This is another 16mm mid thirties UK cinema programme filler from an obscure production company “Inspiration Films” probably owned by song writer Horace Shepherd who directed a series of these shorts (numbers 1 to 5) and other low budget musical shorts for the UK cinema. This is the first of the series of five. Other similar musical shorts followed with different titles.
This film features Cedric Sharpe and his Sextet who play:-

Top Of The Cork Road (sung by William Heughan)

Sleeping Beauty Waltz
Looks like it may be Horace Shepherd himself we see at the start. The compere Edwin Styles once he appears, does an interpretation using a matchbox!
These films had absolutely nothing to do with the BBC – just helped to sell them I guess!
