Panel Discussion | A Look at Black Education and the Role of HBCUs
Dillard University’s Center for Racial Justice takes an honest look at both the struggles and opportunities of HBCUs and how that plays a part in the education of African Americans. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Camacia Smith-Ross, executive director for pre-college and outreach at Southern University and A&M College and executive board member of the Center for Racial Justice.
Panelists were:
– Dave Dennis, civil rights activist and community organizer;
– Toiya Smith, urban studies and public policy major;
– Jaylah Richie, criminal justice major; and
– Dr. Ray Sanders, host of “The New Orleans Imperative” radio show on WHIV-FM.
