Black History & The Power of Art
History is complicated and filled with stories and truths we don’t often like to address. However, artist and community leader, LaShawnda Crowe Storm, is using the power of art to tell these stories and help people heal. Storm uses everything from textiles to sculpture to address subjects such as lynching and the abuse of slaves.
Having the courage to bring these injustices to light not only gives voice to the past, but also inspires hope for a different future.
Storm is one of the most amazing and inspiring people I have ever met. Her story and work demand to be heard and seen. Powerful artwork creates powerful discussions.
