Which Cricut is Right for Me?

If you’re a crafter or even dabble in crafts just a little bit, a Cricut machine is definitely something that you should own. If you’re not sure what a Cricut is then I’m breaking it down for you here. There are three Cricut machine models to choose from. I’ve had a machine for a few years now and while I’m not an expert Cricut user, I definitely think that I could help you choose the right machine for you.

The Cricut Joy

The Cricut Joy is the smallest of the bunch but it packs just a big of a bunch as the other two machines. The Joy can cut the same materials as the Explore Air 2 including everything from vinyl and cardstock. I love using it for making cards because it’s so easy. I’ve made way more cards than I can count using The Joy. It only cuts up to 6″ wide but can cut up to 20′ long. The best part is that it can cut vinyl without using a mat. It’s lightweight which means you can take it from room to room with no trouble.

The Cricut Air Explore 2

I started out my journey with Cricut with an Air Explore 2 and it was a perfect introduction to the brand. It literally is the best of both worlds and a great starter machine. The Air Explore 2 can cut multiple materials. You can cut up to 12″ wide and 24″ long with this machine. It’s a lighter machine than the Maker and heavier than the Joy but the perfect starter machine.

Cricut Maker

The Maker

This is the largest of all of the machines. It has the most cutting power including the ability to cut balsa wood and acrylic. I use the Maker for my heavy duty projects and I love is so much. I talk more about what I love about the Maker here. The possibilities are endless with this machine. I’ve created party decorations, labels, t-shirts, coasters and so much more.

If you’re still on the fence, I say definitely start with the Air Explore 2. It has the best functions for a beginner and is easy to use. If you’re an expert crafter or are looking for all the functions, I highly suggest the Maker.
