Two high schools in New Orleans have 100% college acceptance rate for 2022 Graduation Class
Two high schools in New Orleans are celebrating having 100 percent college acceptance rate for 2022 graduation class. St. Augustine High School, an all-Black boys school had all their 100 graduates were accepted to college and earned a combined total of $9.2 million in scholarships according to Vicksburg Daily News. A spokesperson for St. Augustine High School told KTVB that 99 of the students have decided to continue their education, and one is going the military.

“When I heard the $9.2 million I was excited, wasn’t surprised because I knew we could do it,” St. Augustine graduate Tre’Kevin Ellis, told WWL-TV. “I felt proud about that because young Black men, people usually doubt us and I just appreciate all the money and scholarships.”
Ellis earned a full scholarship to Louisiana State University (LSU), where he plans to major in pre-med biology, WWL-TV reported.
Another New Orleans school St. Mary’s Academy announced that the school’s 2022 graduating class also has an acceptance rate of 100%, KTVB reported. The class of 19 women earned $5.6 million combined in scholarships. The school told KTVB that two students, Sariah Alridge and Kennedy Osum, got over than $1 million individually in scholarships.
Aldridge told WWL-TV she is going to Howard University in the fall, with plans to be a pre-med biology major and become a dermatologist.
“A lot of people doubted us, like, ‘y’all are such a small class,’ but we did that,” Joy Swain, a St. Mary’s Academy graduate, told WWL-TV.
