TLC’s Chilli Doesn’t Regret Having High Standards, Says Boyfriend Matthew Lawrence Is Her ‘Entire List’
TLC’s Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas is opening up about her love life, saying she’s never been happier that she didn’t waiver on her standards.
On May 19, as a guest on The Tamron Hall Show, Chilli talked about her journey to finding the right person, actor Matthew Lawrence. According to US Weekly, their relationship turned romantic in November 2022, which was around 10 months after the Boy Meets World star separated from his wife Cheryl Burke. On New Year’s Eve, Chilli shared an Instagram post featuring Lawrence.
Chilli has always kept her standards high while dating. Fans witnessed her stance on courtship and what she valued in a man when her reality TV show What Chilli Wants debuted on VH1 in 2010. The show aired for two seasons and focused on the “No Scrubs” artist’s dating experiences on her quest to find love.
“On my show, I always hoped that women would see the importance of having high standards,” she explained to Hall on her talk show. “And I got a lot of flack for that, but I don’t care.”
Although some people didn’t like the list of qualifications she wanted her mate to meet, she said she was willing to wait for the right person. She explained that she wasn’t insecure about her relationship status because she knew her worth isn’t determined by a man.
“For me, I just waited it out,” she shared. “I’m like, ‘Lord, if it happens, wonderful. If it doesn’t, I’m still OK.’ I’ve never been the one that’s hard up, saying I’ve gotta be in a relationship or I gotta be married and all this. I wanted it to be right.”
Chilli knew she found something special when she crossed paths with Lawrence. As Blavity previously reported, he’s even got the stamp of approval from her groupmate Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins.
“Matthew, honestly, he’s the list. I can’t even say this or that, he is my entire list. So I thank God every day for him,” Chilli said.
And it seems the Brotherly Love star feels just as strongly because he revealed in March in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he would love to start a family with the four-time Grammy winner.
