Three Alabama Sisters, Have Five Degrees Total
Three Alabama sisters have all recently graduated with their degrees. All three sisters were HBCU (Historically Black Colleges Universities) alumnae have earned a total of five degrees. The sisters have all graduated from Tuskegee University. Years ago the oldest sister, Jamila received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Sciences and Dietetics while Hadiyah, the middle sister, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology according to Black News.

The youngest sister Ayannah most recently earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in Biology. Her sisters Jamila also received her Ph.D. from Auburn University and Hadiyah graduated with a Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham at the same time. The sisters are all thankful for their experience at Tuskegee.
“Being in that type of environment helps to cultivate young students into believing in themselves. I feel like HBCUs help you to see different types of Black people,” Ayannah told Black News Channel.
The sisters also stated how grateful they were for the financial support they received from their school when they were struggling financially. Now the sisters view their graduations as only the start of what they plan on doing in the future.
Jamilah is set to become an assistant professor of nutrition with a tenure track at Berea College. Hadiyah will continue conducting mindfulness courses for those who experienced trauma at Impact Family Counseling and is bound to medical school at the Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados. Ayannah, plans to open a salon and create products for hair, nails, and skincare or get a master’s in business.
