These Black Quadruplets Just Graduated Together From Yale

When Darrin and Kim Wade gave birth to a set of quadruplets, they may not have suspected they’d all go on to graduate from Yale University together.

Aaron, Nick, Zach and Nigel were known as “The Quads” while growing up together in Liberty Township, Ohio, The Hill reported. But the brothers only saw each other a few times while pursuing different majors at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut

“In high school, we all knew the same people. So in a sense, that didn’t allow us to divert as much as we might have wanted to,” said Nick, who majored in political science and minored in Arabic. “But in college, because there’s so many different types of people, and we had so many different diverse interests, I think we were able to carve our paths in our own way.”

Aaron, who double majored in computer science and psychology, said the siblings were like small fish in a big pond at the university.

“Nobody really knew who we were,” he said. “I feel that when people met me at Yale, they met Aaron Wade, as opposed to one of the quadruplets.”

Zach adds to the family’s long list of accomplishments with a double major in chemical engineering and economics. He also served as president of the National Society of Black Engineers at Yale. Nigel majored in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology.

Aaron and Nigel can at least say they’ve taken one class together — but even then, they hardly saw each other in the class of approximately 2,000 students.

“It was ‘Psychology and the Good Life’. It’s one of the biggest classes in Yale history,” Aaron told TODAY, adding that the size required the lectures to be video recorded and broadcasted. “So even though I was technically in this class, we were often not in the same building for it.”

“I would just be walking on the street and just be like, ‘Oh hey, there’s my brother,'” Aaron said. ‘When that happened, I would be shook. I’d be like, ‘Oh my God, I completely forgot that you go to this school.'”

Nick and Zach have now secured jobs at Goldman Sachs. Nick will be working in New York City while Zach moves to San Francisco. Nigel will be staying in New Haven for two years to complete a research program in a Parkinson’s disease lab. He plans to then apply to medical school.

Aaron will also remain in New Haven for one more semester to finish his senior thesis. He will start working at Google in New York City after officially graduating in December.

Darrin, a senior staff software architect for General Electric, said his sons were accepted to 59 colleges, including Harvard. But they chose Yale because of an extraordinary financial aid package.

“Yale won,” Darrin told NBC News in 2017. “They made the best offer, and it was the benchmark for my sons. Not only that, but the alumni reached out and made themselves available to us as a family. I had people I didn’t know calling and saying we want your sons there and they are going to be sure they are taken care of.”
