Peter Hoffenberg, UH History professor, helps us understand how the notion of elections arose in western society and how it was built into the American System, and how it has evolved, for better or worse, since then. Are free and fair elections a requirement of democracy. Can we have democracy with them. Can we have them without democracy. Given the denial of election results in this country, what are the prospects going forward. Are democratic elections on the way out?
