North Carolina teacher raised more than $100,000 to purchase enough food to keep thousands of children from going hungry over winter break
“Really good — that’s how I see every one of my professors. I can’t sleep unless I know they’re okay,” she said.
Parker says most of the students at these schools are children of color on free or reduced lunches.
“We owe this to everyone who is suffering from systemic oppression,” Parker said. “Our folks are struggling to provide the very basic needs — food, and water, and a place to live. That’s ridiculous.”
“It’s truly mind-blowing at how fast this grows,” Parker said. “Really, like, my heart really just wants to make sure my babies are okay.”
