Karen Friedman Agnifilo Is Luigi Mangione’s Attorney: What To Know About Her Work And Connections

Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old man accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has hired a high-profile New York attorney to fight his case.

According to TMZ, Mangione is now being represented by Karen Friedman Agnifilo, who is the wife of the attorney representing Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Agnifilo, who served as the chief assistant district attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office under Cyrus Vance from 2014 to 2021, has been working in the private sector for the past three years. While her husband Marc Agnifilo is representing Combs, who is facing sexual assault charges, Agnifilo now finds herself in another high-profile case as well.

What is Luigi Mangione charged with?

Agnifilo hopes to clear Mangione’s name as he remains in a Pennsylvania jail without bond, facing a second-degree murder charge, per The Independent. Mangione, who is also facing charges for gun law violations in Pennsylvania, is accused of gunning down Thompson outside the New York Hilton in Manhattan on  Dec. 4. After a massive manhunt that went on for days, Mangione was arrested on Monday at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

While Agnifilo hasn’t spoken publicly about Mangione’s case yet, other professionals have been raving about her experience as an attorney.

“She’s got as much experience as any human being, especially in the state court. She knows every corridor, every judge, every clerk in the courthouse,” a longtime New York prosecutor told CNN.

What else is Karen Friedman Agnifilo known for?

Agnifilo continued to become a well-known figure in the industry while serving as a legal analyst for CNN. She also works as the advisor for Law and Order and co-hosts a weekly legal podcast, The Independent reported.

Agnifilo graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, and the Georgetown University Law Center. She has worked in the criminal justice system for more than 30 years.
