Just Months Before He Passed, DMX Revealed What His Final Thoughts Would Be In The Event Of His Death
During the interview, the iconic artist also talked about one of his most memorable shows: a 1999 performance at Woodstock, which brought together more than 200,000 fans, according to The Guardian.
The interview also touched on the rapper’s relationship with Aaliyah, who worked with the musician in the 2000 action film Romeo Must Die.
“She was a beautiful person,” DMX said, adding that she made him feel very comfortable on the set of the movie. The pair also worked together on the popular song “Back In One Piece” and grew as friends before Aaliyah died in an airplane crash in 2001.
The conversation then shifted to X’s Verzuz battle Snoop, which took place in July. The “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” artist said he was hesitant on taking part in the battle because he didn’t want to disrespect Snoop. But he made his decision a day before the show, realizing that the battle is a good opportunity for artists to remind people about their legacy. As Blavity previously reported, fans are now remembering the event as one of the most heartfelt Verzuz battles ever.
The cultural icon revealed in the interview that he was working on an album which features Pop Smoke and the Griselda boys.
“That’s what type of new I’m doing,” he said.
DMX also shared he’d been hoping to work with Alicia Keys, Snoop, 50 Cent and Lil Wayne on his next album which, unfortunately, we won’t get to hear.
