Judas and the Black Messiah writers receive the Writers Guild's 2021 Paul Selvin Award
Judas and the Black Messiah screenwriters Will Berson & Shaka King and Keith Lucas & Kenny Lucas accept the 2021 Writers Guild Selvin Award from Writers Guild East Walter Bernstein Award for Social Justice recipient and Emmy-nominated Frontline writer-correspondent Jelani Cobb.
The 2021 Writers Guild Awards, a joint Writers Guild of America West and Writers Guild of America, East virtual ceremony, was held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 and hosted by actor and writer Kal Penn.
Named for the late Paul Selvin, general counsel to WGAW for 25 years, the honorary award is given each year to the Writers Guild West member or members whose script best embodies the spirit of the constitutional and civil rights and liberties that are indispensable to the survival of free writers everywhere.
The Writers Guild Awards honor outstanding writing in film, television, new media, videogames, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories.
