Jazmine Sullivan Delivered A Poignant Speech For Her First Grammy Win
Sullivan celebrated her win in a poignant speech.
Sullivan said she drew inspiration to write the album “to deal with my own shame and unforgiveness around some of the decisions that I made in my 20s that weren’t favorable.”

“What it ended up being was a safe space for black women to tell their stories,” the emotional 34-year-old said as she held her award, according to the Associated Press. “For us to learn from each other, laugh with each other, and not be exploited.”
