Ice-T’s NSFW Response To A Troll Who Questioned His Street Creds Has Folks Cackling
While trolls today criticize Ice-T for being too soft, the rapper considers himself to be an artist who comes from a generation of real “gangster rappers.” In an interview with Soren Baker, who authored The History of Gangster Rap, the Los Angeles native said 50 Cent was the last gangster rapper.
“He basically embodied that image; that, ‘I don’t give a f**k,’” the 63-year-old said, according to Revolt. “50 Cent had you really believing you didn’t wanna f**k with him. I heard 50 Cent when he was beefing with Fat Joe and he was like, ‘Fat Joe, I’m right down the street. It’s real hard to find a n***a when you know he got a gun, ain’t it?’ I’m like, ‘Okay!’”
Ice-T also mentioned Bobby Shmurda as another one of the last gangster rappers. When it comes to today’s rappers, Ice-T sees a much softer generation.
“I think now, the new trap rappers, you know, they’ve convinced me they can get high, they’ve convinced me maybe that they can sell a little drugs, but they don’t scare me,” he said. “I think a real gangsta rapper has to scare you a little bit. I don’t think there’s no new people that do it.”
