Here’s my top tips for creating a beautiful, tasty kid-friendly snack board that includes sweet, salty, and savory options—with plenty of fiber and protein to keep little bellies full and happy.

1. Make It Colorful

Snack boards are a bit tricky if you have picky eaters. Experimenting with different tastes and textures can go really well or really wrong. One thing I’ve learned as a mom is that kids eat with their eyes first. A colorful snack board is more appealing and helps ensure they get a variety of vitamins and nutrients. Creating a rainbow of fruits, veggies, and other colorful snacks on your snack board will definitely catch your kids interest.

Balancing different flavors will satisfy your child’s taste buds while keeping snacks fun and enjoyable. I love adding a mix of sweet, salty and savory snacks to the board. Fruits like berries, apple slices and yogurt covered pretzels are great sweet options. You could even add a homemade yogurt bark to the board for a sweet and salty mix. My kids love crackers, popcorn and cheese puffs for salty. If there’s no allergies, you could always add things like nuts. Lunch meats like turkey roll ups or pepperoni make a great savory option filled with protein.
