Halloween Movie Night

We love movie nights in our home. Ever since T was little we would have a movie night every weekend. Taking turns picking a movie to watch is so much fun. Now that Trevor is here, we’re keeping that tradition going. Halloween is one of my favorite seasons to have movie nights. We get to watch the spookiest movies while spending time together. When the weather is cool enough, we get to pull our outdoor projector out and enjoy a movie in our backyard with blankets and a fire pit. There’s honestly better than having a cozy movie night or movie date night at home.

Movies to Watch for Halloween Movie Night

Of course we always have the Halloween classics in our movie line up. My kids love taking turns picking which movie to watch and whenever a new family friendly movie is released we add it to our watch list. One of the fun things that we’re trying out is voting on a movie to watch. I created these movie voting cards to help us vote. Each person in our family gets to select one movie on the card and put it into a basket. Then we pick a card out of the basket and that’s how we choose our movie for movie night. It’s also a great option when we’re hosting movie nights with our friends.

Halloween Movie Night Essentials

You can’t have movie night without a few essentials. I love taking movie nights to the next level with things like string lights, festive blankets and pillows, and themed snacks. Of course none of this is necessary but it does make the night a little extra magical plus my kids love it.

Snacks are a must for every movie night. I like to keep things simple but add a little halloween magic. I grabbed these iridescent skeleton coffins from Dollar Tree and filled them with things like pretzels and candy. They’re great for snacking during the movie and the perfect individual size.

I also made a quick and easy halloween popcorn mix using sweet and salty popcorn, M&Ms, caramel sauce and Oreos. A snack or grazing board is a great option for family movie nights as well. If it’s a cold night, I definitely suggest a hot chocolate board.

I used a rolling cart to set the snacks up for our movie night. This allowed me to set the snacks up so everyone had access to them. I decorated it with some colorful string lights and printables for an added touch. The skeleton witch was a fun surprise for my family and they really loved it. For drinks I went with Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider which is always a crowd favorite. Sparkling water or lemonade is always a great choice too. The single serve bottles are great to pair with festive straws like these boo or bat straws.

Balloons are definitely an option but since I wanted to dress up the room a little, I made a small balloon garland using this $1 pack of assorted balloons from Walmart. It took me about 15 minutes to make the garland. I also hung this iridescent halloween banner and added a few paper bats to the wall for decor.
