Former NFL player Vincent Jackson’s brain to be donated to science
Vincent Jackson’s family says the former NFL player’s brain will be donated to science and studied for CTE according to ABC Action News. CTE is a degenerative brain disease many former football players suffer after repeated blows to the head.
A preliminary report from the Hillsborough County medical examiner’s office reveals what happened in the days before Jackson was confirmed dead.
According to the report, staff at a hotel found Jackson in his room in the same position both Saturday and Sunday.
The report says staff assumed Jackson was sleeping and left. the room. Then on Monday when he hadn’t moved staff called 9-1-1. That discovery came three days after Hillsborough County deputies went to the hotel to check on Jackson’s well-being after his family filed a missing person’s report.
An autopsy is currently being done and the medical examiner’s office says, detailing Jackson’s cause of death could still take months.
