First National Urban Leauge Director Rayford Logan Was A Member Of Alpha Phi Alpha
Did you know that Rayford Logan pledged Alpha? Logan crossed through the Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Rayford Whittingham Logan was an African-American historian and Pan-African activist. He studied post-Reconstruction America, a period he termed the ‘nadir of American race relations.’ During the late 1940s, he was a chief advisor to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People on international affairs. He was also a professor emeritus of history at Howard University.
In 1980, he was awarded the Spingarn Medal from the NAACP. Brookland, a Washington, DC, neighborhood where he has lived for many years, is designated as one of the city’s African-American Heritage Trail sites.
