What’s sweeter than candy for Valentine’s Day? I’ll be honest that I’m not big on candy but I couldn’t resist making this easy candy board for Valentine’s Day. If you remember I made a hot chocolate charcuterie board for Christmas and it was a huge hit! This one is so super special and went over well with my family. I included a little bit of everyone’s favorite snacks and candies.

I tried to limit the sweets by only including heart shaped lollipops, mini chocolate bars, and sour heart gummies. Everything else I put onto the board was Valentine’s Day themed snacks that I picked up from Target, Walmart and Homegoods.

Tips for Creating an Easy Candy Board for Valentine’s Day

Recreating a candy board is so easy. It’s completely customizable. You can make it as large or small as you want and add whatever you want. A candy board is the perfect end to your Valentine’s Day after you’ve spent a full day with a fun breakfast at home and day out with your family (grab a few family activity ideas here).

Pick a color palette

The first step to create an board, candy or charcuterie, is to pick a color palette. For this board I wanted to choose colors other than the traditional pink and red so I added a few pastel colors in as well. The chocolate adds the perfect contrast!

Use bowls and ramekins on your candy board for Valentine’s Day

If you’re planning on incorporating smaller candies I highly suggest using bowls or ramekins to place them in. The bowls add a bit of dimension to the candy board.

Know how much to include

When I’m buying my candies and snacks for the board I make sure to think about how much I’m going to need. I always buy more of the things that I know my family is going to eat the most of. For example, in this board I made sure to put more graham crackers and popcorn onto the board. I limited the lollipops and gummy hearts because I didn’t want anyone to have a sugar rush.

Consider your placement

I like to arrange things in a particular order when I’m placing them on the board. I put the things that I know my kids are going to reach for the most on the outside of the board. This makes it easier for them to reach and it’s less likely for them to make a mess when they’re grazing.

Fill in the gaps

If there are any gaps left after arranging your board, fill the gaps in with smaller snacks and candies.
