Is it also valid and important to look at the effects of slavery on poor White Americans to understand how it shaped their views and feelings?
Can we teach American history in a way that captures the unique experiences and perspectives of both Black & White Americans but doesn’t breed defensiveness and divisions among Americans?
Should every history lesson be taught through the lens of racial and other identities?
Can using race as a way to frame our education go too far, as expressed by opponents of “critical race theory” and “anti-racism” approaches?
