Dentist Becomes First Black Woman to Own an Electric Toothbrush Line
Dr. Bobbi Peterson opened her first practice in 2008, once she finished her residency program. However, she was forced to move to three different locations because the rent was being increased, sometimes by $1,000 a month. This experience was tough, and Dr. Peterson worked hard to find a space she could afford.
“I believe that, in order to be successful, you have to start something on your own,” Dr. Peterson told Vegas Magazine. “Yes, it is going to be challenging, but no company will pay you how much you’re actually worth. You can only earn as much money as you deserve when you become independent.”
Although Dr. Peterson is a celebrity orthodontist, her practice strives to provide the community with the highest quality services at affordable prices. Dr. Bobbi and her team are dedicated to excellence in orthodontics and committed to providing a friendly, caring atmosphere.
Dr. Peterson has launched her own line of electric toothbrushes called Big Mouth Toothbrush. Peterson’s practice, Aces Braces is located in the Brooklyn which is an direct reflection of her commitment to communities of color and mission to make oral health more accessible. The second-generation HBCU grad specializes in all aspects of orthodontics including retainer installations, fixing crooked or crowded teeth, gapped teeth, and crossbites. Along with the ling of electric toothbrushes, Dr. Peterson is now working with a local community college in New York to offer dental services to students who are interested in becoming orthodontists according to Black Business.
