Delta Sigma Theta’s Farwest Region Uses Kendrick Lamar’s “TV Off” to Inspire Change
Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Farwest Region are using the power of strolling and culture to spark a movement. The Farwest Region Step Collective, made up of Delta Sigma Theta members from chapters across the West Coast, recently came together to create an amazing stroll video to Kendrick Lamar’s “TV Off.”
In just two days of being published on Watch The Yard’s Instagram, the video has brought in over 179,000 views on Watch The Yard alone.
With their #FarwestDSTTVOffChallenge, the collective is encouraging others to reflect on what issues matter most to them and to take action. They pose a simple yet compelling question:
What would you turn the TV off to support?
Would it be:
- Sisterhood and strengthening bonds within your community?
- Scholarship and advancing education?
- Service and giving back?
- Social action and advocating for change?
- Voter education and ensuring people are informed?
- Climate change and environmental sustainability?
The challenge invites participants to share their responses on social media, tag @dstfarwestregion, and use #FarwestDSTTVOffChallenge to spread the message.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has a long-standing legacy of service, scholarship, and activism. Through this initiative, the Farwest Region continues that tradition by inspiring others to think critically about the causes they support and take real action.
