Daniel Kaluuya took his rightful place on stage for his acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars on Sunday while also airing out his parents’ personal business. 

Despite appearing to be a typical speech of thankyous and acknowledgments, the British actor took things in a different direction.

“We got to celebrate life. We are breathing. We are walking. It’s incredible…My mom and my dad they had sex. It’s amazing. Do you understand? I’m here. I’m so happy to be alive so I’m going to celebrate that tonight,” he said before walking off stage.

Just as Kaluuya put his parents’ business in the streets, the camera panned to his mom and sister who looked confused and shocked.

In an interview afterward, the actor admitted he would probably be getting some choice words from his mom and would be attempting to avoid looking at his phone.

“It just came out my mouth and my mom is probably going to text me some stuff about it but here we are,” he said laughing.

“But she’s going to be cool… She’s got a sense of humor. We give it to each other,” he said.

The actor won the award for his role as Black Panther Party Chairman Fred Hampton in the movie Judas and the Black Messiah, Slate reported.

As the announcers revealed the winner for the category, the camera panned to his mom and sister who appeared to be elated for the actor.

The 32-year-old took the stage, wearing all black with a gold chain, and immediately gave all thanks to God, his family and the late Hampton’s son and widow. 

“He was on this Earth for 21 years … and he found a way to feed kids breakfast, educate kids, give free medical care against all the odds,” he said.

“The Black Panther Party, they showed me how to love myself,” he added, urging fans and viewers to continue Hampton’s legacy.

He continued that civil and social activism “ain’t a single man’s job” but instead, everyone’s responsibility.

Kaluuya isn’t shy of speaking out on his family’s intimate moments. While hosting the long-standing show Saturday Night Live, Kaluuya cracked a joke about his family’s sperm, as Blavity previously reported. 

“My family’s sperm is literally about that life,” he said while talking about his large family. “They say Black don’t crack, but condoms do.”

The actor also poked fun at the royal family after members were accused of racism.

During the opening monologue, Kaluuya said he was “basically what the royal family was worried the baby would look like.”
