Corey Hawkins Joins Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo And Halle Berry In ‘Crime 101’ At Amazon MGM Studios
The Piano Lesson star Corey Hawkins has joined the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios thriller Crime 101, written and directed by Bart Layton.
Deadline reports that the film, based on Don Winslow’s novella of the same name, is also starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan and Monica Barbaro. However, the film’s plot and the cast’s roles are being kept a secret.
With that said, it stands to reason that the plot won’t be too far off from Winslow’s original story, which is a cat-and-mouse game between a longtime jewel thief named Davis and LAPD Detective Lou Lubesnick. Davis is engaging in what he hopes is a final score, a diamond heist that takes him along the Pacific Coast Highway, before he disappears.
Images from the production have also been captured by photographers as it films in Calabasas, California.
Joely Fether of RAW will executive produce. Producers include Hemsworth and his Wild State partner/co-founder Ben Grayson, RAW founder Dimitri Doganis and Layton, who serves as RAW’s creative director, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title and Shane Salerno of The Story Factory.
Hawkins can be seen in The Piano Lesson, based on the August Wilson play. The film comes to select theaters and Netflix on Nov. 22. Alongside Hawkins, The Piano Lesson stars John David Washington, Daniel Deadwyler, Samuel J. Jackson, Ray Fisher, Erykah Badu, Michael Potts and Skylar Aleece Smith. Malcolm Washington directs from a screenplay he wrote with Virgil Williams.
