(BPRW) NMA Appoints New Executive Director Joy D. Calloway, MHSA, MBA

An experienced, transformational executive leader, Calloway brings a history of elevating brands, optimizing services and programs, and improving culture at health care and nonprofit organizations.

(Black PR Wire) The National Medical Association (NMA) has named Joy D. Calloway, MHSA, MBA as its new Executive Director. Ms. Calloway assumes the role on October 17, 2022. In this position, Calloway will oversee the effective management, operation, and growth of the Association and advise and make recommendation to the Board of Trustees, President of the Association, and other officers on the formulation and execution of the overall objectives of the Association.

With more than 27 years of healthcare and nonprofit leadership experience, Ms. Calloway brings a strong track record of helping organizations communicate their vision, establish strategic priorities, mobilize key stakeholders, improve culture, and develop high-performing teams. She most recently served as the Interim Chief Executive Officer of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, where she was sought out to develop and lead the organization’s stabilization plan after a five-way merger. Prior to that, she was Interim Executive Director at the National Association of Health Services Executives. “The National Medical Association is proud to welcome Ms. Joy Calloway to our team. A three-time graduate of The University of Michigan, Ms. Calloway remains active with her alma mater, mentoring students and young professionals as they navigate through their graduate education and career choices. She is a Board member with the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan, an Advisory Board member with the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship program, and is socially active as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and The Links Incorporated.

Ms. Calloway succeeds the former Executive Director Martin Hamlette.
