(BPRW) Justice for Davonte Adams: A Call for Legal Recourse and Social Change
(Black PR Wire) Cobb County, GA – On November 19th at 11 AM, a press conference will be held in front of the Cobb Superior Courthouse to address the unjust legal proceedings against Davonte Adams. This event will be led by prominent civil rights leader and social justice scholar, Sabrina McKenzie, NAACP Cobb County President Jeriene Bonner-Willis, Cynthia Adams (Davonte’s mother), and attorney Nefertara Miller.
Davonte Adams, a reformed juvenile delinquent and dedicated community leader who mentors hundreds of youth through his nonprofit organization, was tragically involved in a fatal accident. However, the subsequent legal proceedings have raised serious concerns about racial bias and the misapplication of Georgia law.
Despite the absence of drugs or alcohol in his system, Adams was charged with a felony, a decision that appears to contradict state law. On November 22nd, Judge Charles P. Rose Jr. will hear Davonte Adams’ habeas corpus petition, a crucial opportunity to challenge the initial 15-year sentence imposed by Judge Angela Brown of Cobb County.
We urge the public to join us in demanding justice for Davonte Adams and to raise awareness about the systemic issues that have led to this unjust situation. Visit freedavonte.org for further information or to donate to the cause.
