(BPRW) Congressional Black Caucus Statement on Passage of Senate Continuing Resolution
(Black PR Wire) Today, Congressional Black Caucus Chair Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) and members of the Congressional Black Caucus issued the following statement:
“The CBC applauds Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, and Chairman Pete Aguilar for their unwavering commitment to protecting the American people in the face of Republican extremism.
“We are immensely proud that every member of the Congressional Black Caucus in the House and Senate strongly opposed Republicans’ efforts to jam through this partisan six month continuing resolution, which targets families with cruel cuts to health care, housing, and food assistance, because we will always do what is necessary to protect the communities that we serve. We refused to cede our authority and give President Trump and Elon Musk the ability to continue the damage they have begun inflicting on the American people.
“The CBC made clear that we would stand firm in our values and we have no intention of turning back on that promise. We will continue fighting to protect Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and veterans benefits because our communities deserve nothing less.”
