(BPRW) Black PR Wire’s January Power Profiler: Maxwell Alejandro Frost

(Black PR Wire) A survivor, leader, advocate, and now the first Gen Z member of Congress. Maxwell Alejandro Frost was born to a Puerto Rican woman of Lebanese descent and a Haitian father. His mother was a victim to the system and trying circumstances. As an infant, she made the difficult decision to put him up for adoption. He was adopted by a special education teacher who migrated to the United States from Cuba during the Freedom Flights and a Kansas musician.

While attending Osceola County School for the Arts, Frost became motivated by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and that motivation led him to dedicate his time to organizations such as the Newtown Action Alliance, Civil Air Patrol and March For Our Lives. From there he began his political journey by being active in Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign and a field organizer for the Hillary for America Campaign.

Frost enrolled at Valencia College in 2015 but something greater came his way as he took a break in 2019 to be the National Organizing Specialist with the American Civil Liberties Union where he fought for abortion rights and organized the movement that restored the voting rights of Floridians with previous felonies. As gun violence struck our nation, the organization he once was a volunteer for, March for Our Lives, called him on as the National Organizing Director. While there, he helped passed major gun legislation that has saved lives.

With the announcement of his candidacy in August 2021, he knew to change the system we had to first change our leadership. Frost hit the ground running with a platform surrounding gun violence, social welfare, criminal justice and the environment. In the August 2022 primary Frost defeated Senator Randolph Bracy, Corrine Brown and former U.S. Representatives Alan Grayson along with others.

Frost is a musician, he plays the timbales and is a jazz drummer  In fact, Maxwell performed at former President Barack Obama’s second inauguration parade with his high school salsa band, Seguro Que Sí, after volunteering for his campaign. Maxwell Alejandro Frost is devoting his life to fighting for justice. With hard work and  endorsements from respected political figures, Frost is living out his family’s wildest dreams today as the first Gen Z and Afro-Cuban member of Congress.
