Black Public Health Academy to Host Community Strategy Meetings Across Florida to Address Pathways to HIV Services

(Black PR Wire) Imagine if we only had 45 minutes to save ourselves from HIV. The Black Public Health Academy, HIV Possible, and Empower HIV Health are leading the way to end HIV by hosting community strategy meetings across Florida to address pathways to HIV Services. The 45 Minute Town Hall Meetings are creatively titled “45 Minutes to Saving Ourselves.” Why? Because statistics indicate that Black residents represent 45% of new HIV diagnoses in Florida.

“We’re bringing together community leaders, residents, advocates, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to collaborate and strengthen HIV care and improve health outcomes in our community,” said Leisha McKinley Beach, CEO of Black Public Health Academy. “This town hall is one way we can come together to change the trajectory for our communities and help ensure that people with HIV have access to care and treatment of choice and the support needed on the journey toward overall health and well-being,” she added.

Ms. McKinley Beach shared that the 45-minute format was intentionally designed to remind us of the severity of HIV in Florida’s Black communities, while at the same time, creating space for meaningful conversations to evoke action. The Tour dates throughout Florida are as follows:

The Town Hall Meetings will take place in the aforementioned cities and surrounding areas. Although the formal town hall meeting will last 45 minutes, there will also be opportunities for networking and fellowship before and after the program, fostering deeper connections and continued conversation among attendees. Sponsors for the Tour include Empower HIV Health, HIV Possible, Gilead, Black PR Wire, Black Public Health Academy, and AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
