History has taken us to where we are now.
My Jamaican roots give me a strong appreciation for the African American narrative, even though it is not my lived experience. Slavery ended in Jamaica 50 years before it did in the USA. Upon visiting my home country, Martin Luther King remarked,
“In Jamaica, I feel like a human being.”
YouTube is free, and you should be there. But as a black creator, entrepreneur, and artist, remember that access to the highest echelons of TV as a Producer or channel owner is very, very new to you.
There is no need to beg for a seat at the Hollywood table.
