At the United States Conference of Mayors’ 93rd Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C., Quinting S. Lacewell Jr., a Fall 2010 initiate of the Alpha Phi Chapter or Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Clark Atlanta University, made history by becoming the youngest Co-Chair of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Business Council. The event, presided over by Conference President Mayor Andrew Ginther of Columbus, Ohio, marked a significant milestone in Lacewell’s career and the organization’s history. Lacewell will be serving as Co-Chair alongside Bre Saches.

The United States Conference of Mayors is the official non-partisan organization representing cities with populations of 30,000 or more, with each city represented by its mayor. The Business Council, an integral part of the conference, brings together corporate executives from some of the nation’s leading business enterprises to collaborate on urban policy and economic development.

Lacewell, who serves as the Senior Government Relations and External Affairs professional for Wells Fargo, previously worked alongside former Portland, Oregon Mayor Charles Hales before ascending to the role of Senior Co-Chair at the United States Conference of Mayors Annual Meeting. His election to the leadership position reflects his growing influence in the intersection of business and government.

A native of Newark, N.J., Lacewell has cultivated a distinguished career in communications and branding, specializing in strategic planning, brand strategies, crisis communications, and intergovernmental affairs. Before joining Wells Fargo, he served in the administrations of three prominent Democratic mayors—former Atlanta Mayors Kasim Reed and Keisha Lance Bottoms, as well as Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. His work in public service and corporate relations has positioned him as a key figure in municipal governance and economic development initiatives.

In addition to his professional achievements, Lacewell played a crucial role as Deputy Communications Director for the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, where he managed public relations strategies and press logistics for the high-profile event. His efforts contributed to the successful launch of one of the most significant cultural institutions in the entertainment industry.

Lacewell’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. In 2023, he was recognized as one of Clark Atlanta University’s 40 Under 40 Awardees, an honor that celebrates young alumni making substantial impacts in their respective fields. As a dedicated member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, he continues to engage in community service and mentorship, embodying the fraternity’s mission of leadership and excellence.
