In a heartfelt tradition of giving, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. members in Colombia hosted their annual Toy Giveaway, spreading joy to over 1,000 families across eight cities, including Cartagena and Medellin. Supported by donations from the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) members, Cartagena Expats, The Aden Project, and Kids Elite Sports, the event brought the festive spirit to life for many during the holiday season.

Jarvis Houston, representing Alphas in Colombia and BlackTravelCo, reflected on the significance of the initiative. “The Annual Toy Drive is more than just a festive occasion; it’s a celebration of community spirit and the joy of giving. Each toy is a symbol of hope and happiness, and we are grateful to have played a part in making this holiday season truly special for thousands of Colombian families,” Houston said.

Alix Jean, of Ara Travel and Alpha Phi Alpha’s Rho Sigma chapter, shared the impact of the collaboration. “Thanks to our incredible sponsors and the outpouring of support from NPHC members, including partners at Watch the Yard, we ensured that thousands of children can experience the magic of the season,” Jean said. “This event showcases the strength of our community in Colombia and our shared commitment to making sure no child is left out of the holiday spirit.”

The Toy Giveaway reflects the fraternity’s enduring dedication to service and community engagement, reinforcing its mission to uplift and bring hope to others, both locally and globally.

This initiative was further bolstered by BlackTravelCo and Ara Travel, Black-owned companies led by Alpha Phi Alpha members who inspire Black travelers to explore Colombia. These organizations serve as a hub for Black travelers and expats to connect, celebrate Afro-Colombian culture, and build community abroad.

Through their annual Toy Giveaway, the Alphas in Colombia showcase the power of service, the joy of giving, and their commitment to creating brighter futures for the communities they serve.
