A White Conservative Tried To Disrespect Flo Jo’s Legacy But Twitter Wasn’t Having It
The internet was immediately up in arms when Claire Lehmann, founder of the far right magazine Quillette, suggested that legendary Black athlete Florence Griffith Joyner died of a drug overdose, citing her acrylic nails as evidence.
In fact, Joyner, known to the world as “Flo-Jo,” died from suffocation due to an seizure, as those close to her were quick to point out. According to the LA Times the athlete had a congenital defect called, cavernous angioma, which can make one prone to seizures.
