(BPRW) 100 Black Men of South Florida Earns National Chapter of the Year Honor; Local Mentee Named National Mentee of the Year
(Black PR Wire) MIAMI, FL — The 100 Black Men of South Florida, Inc. proudly returned home with top national honors following the 40th Annual Conference of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., held June 17–21 in Manhattan, New York.
The annual conference brought together hundreds of mentors, business leaders, policymakers, educators, and community advocates from across the country to share best practices in mentoring, leadership development, economic empowerment, and youth engagement. Representing South Florida at the conference were members of the chapter along with 22 middle and high school students enrolled in the organization’s Dr. Harold E. Ginyard Leadership Academy (DHGLA).
Throughout the week, participants attended workshops, networking events, and leadership development sessions designed to inspire personal growth and prepare members for future success. Chapter President Pierre Rutledge said the experience provided invaluable exposure and inspiration for the chapter’s mentees.
“This trip was about exposing our young people to new opportunities, broadening their horizons, and showing them what is possible when preparation meets opportunity,” said Rutledge. “We are incredibly proud of our mentees and grateful to our mentors, families, and supporters who make this work possible.”
The chapter’s commitment to mentoring, education, leadership development, and community service was recognized on the national stage when the 100 Black Men of South Florida was named the 2026 Medium Chapter of the Year by the 100 Black Men of America, Inc.
“Being named the 2026 Medium Chapter of the Year is a tremendous honor and reflects our collective commitment to changing lives and building future leaders,” Rutledge added. “This recognition belongs to every mentor, volunteer, student, parent, partner, and supporter who believes in our mission and works tirelessly to help young people achieve their full potential.”
Adding to the chapter’s celebration, DHGLA mentee and recent Broward College & dual enrollment high school graduate Chai Footman, II was named the 2026 National Mentee of the Year by the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Footman’s achievement reflects years of academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement. He has been awarded a full-tuition leadership scholarship through The Posse Foundation and will attend Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania this fall.
