Everyting To Know So Far About D4vd Being Officially Charged In Murder Of Teen Girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez

Singer D4vd has been charged for the murder of a teen girl who went missing in 2025. District Attorney Nathan Hochman revealed the latest developments at a press conference on Monday, saying Burke may face a first-degree murder charge and even the death penalty.
What happened to Celeste Rivas Hernandez?
Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was 13 when she ran away from home, was last seen alive shortly before heading to Burke’s home in April, 2025, Variety reported. In September, she was found dead in a Tesla registered to D4vd in Los Angeles. Hochman didn’t say how Rivas died, but he said the coroner’s office will release the results soon.
“There is physical evidence and there is forensic and digital evidence that we intend to present in court to prove these charges beyond a reasonable doubt,” Hochman said, according to Variety.
While the details haven’t yet been released, Burke is accused of using a “sharp instrument” to kill Hernandez. Burke was also allegedly sexually abusing Rivas.
Last week, D4vd was arrested and held without bail. During Monday’s press conference, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said there is reason why the details of the investigation were not released sooner.
“My duty is not to fuel speculation,” McDonnell said, per Variety. “It’s to deliver justice, and that requires patience and discipline on everybody’s part. This investigation was driven by a single purpose — to secure justice for Celeste Rivas and for those who loved her.”
Where was Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s body found?
Investigators said they found Hernandez’s body after neighbors in the Hollywood hills reported a foul odor coming from the Tesla. Her decomposed body was sitting in a bag in the trunk of the car, police said.
“Celeste was just a child, under 14 years old, when David Burke allegedly engaged in repeated lewd and lascivious sexual relations with her,” Hochman said, per KTLA 5. “But Burke’s actions did not allegedly stop there. When she threatened to expose his criminal conduct and devastate his musical career, Burke allegedly murdered her, cut up her body and stuffed her body in two bags that were placed in the front trunk of his car.”
